Joanie moved from Iowa to Chicago to New York City to Los Angeles. Today you can find her (and her black turtleneck) writing a chapter on her grocery bag while walking home, or jotting down notes for her next fantasy novel while doing Pilates. Writing, and all of the Arts, have always been intertwined in every area of her life (as shown below).

As an Interior Design/Art Consultant: Has worked with, and personalized, over twenty-one styles, including Art Deco, Art Moderne, Asian, Avant-Garde, American Country, English Country, French Country, Contemporary, Eclectic, Flea Market, Hi-Tech, Minimalist, Middle Eastern, Mission,  Neo-Classic, Outsider Intuitive Visionary Art, Rustic, Sophisticated-Funk, Scandinavian, Traditional, Updated Traditional, and others.

As a Buyer of Furniture, Art, Accessories, and Giftware: Has attended and purchased at major design centers, showrooms, international trade fairs, flea markets, art fairs, and galleries in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, La Jolla, Atlanta, Dallas, and Boston. 



Artist Representative for Outsider Intuitive Visionary Artist, in Chicago (2002-2003): Promotion/branding, curating, sales, designed invitations with artist, arrangements for commissioned works. Orchestrated, curated, hosted Solo Show in Chicago's Gold Coast. Worked on other Chicago shows, including: Juried art fairs and benefits. Commissioned works included: Portrait of baby (Chicago), and primitive mask for masquerade event (NYC).

As the arts cross all boundaries, they free her to do so as well. And because of it, she's experiencing worlds she would never have known.
